Aloysius specialises in banking and finance. He has advised financial institutions as well as corporate borrowers, business trusts and private equity firms on domestic and cross-border finance transactions. He has experience advising on bilateral and syndicated loans, real estate financing, leveraged acquisition financing, takeover financing and project financing transactions. Aloysius has advised banks and sponsors on project financings, including public-private partnership projects in Singapore.
Aloysius has also advised on a number of high-profile Islamic financing transactions in Singapore. He has advised on bilateral and syndicated commodity murabaha financings and sukuk issuances. He was involved in the issuance of the world’s first sukuk to be convertible into units in a real estate investment trust. Aloysius has been ranked as an Up and Coming Lawyer in Chambers Asia-Pacific, and was cited by a client for “his reliable service, reporting being ‘impressed with his work rate, turnaround time and quick thinking’”.
Aloysius holds an LL.B. (Hons) degree from the National University of Singapore and a B.Sc. (Economics and Management) degree from the University of London. He was called to the Singapore Bar in 2010 when he joined Allen & Gledhill.
Work Highlights
- Advised Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, DBS Bank, Maybank and Mizuho Bank in the project financing granted to TuasOne (a joint venture between Hyflux and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) for the sixth waste-to-energy plant project in Singapore.
- Acted for United Overseas Bank in the S$1.1 billion facility to Yanlord Perennial Investment (a consortium which includes Yanlord Land Group and Perennial Real Estate) to finance the general offer of United Engineers and WBL Corporation.
- Advised Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, DBS Bank, Maybank, OCBC Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and United Overseas Bank on the term and revolving loan facilities to CL Office Trustee (in its capacity as trustee-manager of the Glory Office Trust) and Glory SR Trustee (in its capacity as trustee-manager of Glory SR Trust) for the financing of the redevelopment of the Golden Shoe car park.
