Aris’ areas of practice include mergers and acquisitions, general corporate matters, banking, and other cross-border investment and commercial issues. He has worked for more than 10 years in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Prior to joining AGI Legal, Aris was a California-licensed attorney with a leading law firm in Indonesia. Other relevant former work experiences include roles as legal counsel for an oil and gas investment venture in Jakarta, law firms in Jakarta and New York, legal and policy assistant for a US Senator, law clerk for the US Treasury and a Federal District Judge, in addition to several finance-related positions in companies in the US.

Aris graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania (with a Certificate in Business and Public Policy from Wharton School), and obtained Master in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas, Austin. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas.

Aris is recognised as a leading practitioner by legal publications. He is cited as a Rising Star Partner for his work in M&A in IFLR1000.

  • Advised Hengtong Optic-Electric International Co. Ltd in an acquisition of 42.97 per cent. shares of PT Voksel Electric Tbk (an Indonesian listed entity) for a consideration amount of US$26.9 million and the subsequent tender offer process.
  • Advised CapitaLand Investment Limited’s wholly owned unit, The Ascott Limited, on its acquisition of the hotel and serviced residence business of Oakwood Worldwide in Indonesia.
  • Advised Equinix in a joint venture with PT Astra Digital Internasional for development of retail data centres in Indonesia.
  • Advised investors in their subscription of Series B (US$35 million) and C (US$55 million) convertible notes in Pluang Technologies Pte. Ltd, an Indonesia’s online investment platform.
  • Advised Horizon Ventures on a US$11.5 million Series A investment in Bobobox, an Indonesian accommodation startup.
  • Advised Viet Thai International and Jollibee Foods Corporation on Indonesian law aspect of their acquisition of 100 per cent. of the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Group.
  • Advised Great Eastern General Insurance Limited, as Indonesian counsel, on its acquisition of PT QBE General Insurance Indonesia (aggregate acquisition consideration of US$31.5 million).
  • Advised Logos Indonesia Logistics Venture LP on the US$120 million loan facilities made available by International Finance Corporation.
  • Advised United Overseas Bank as transaction counsel on the refinancing of US$200 million facilities to an Indonesian institution located in Cayman Islands.
  • Advised US-based entities in compliance and anti-corruption matters.
